It appears there were very few waterproof anglers around this morning, but Miss Belmar Princess got into a good early bite of stripers and blues that resulted in 30 fish aboard by lunch time. However, there were few birds working in the afternoon as the bite slowed considerably. They will be sailing on Tuesday at 7 a.m. The Cock Robin from Point Pleasant will not be sailing on Tuesday, but plans to resume on Wednesday. Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park didn't see much caught Sunday as most of the action seemed to occur further north. There were no weigh-ins this morning. Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant released a few 18-to-20-inch stripers on the black Mambo Minnow in the dark this morning at Bay Head. Vinny D'Anton of Wall worked the Spring Lake and Belmar surf this morning with no hits. Jay Amberg saw adult bunkers well off Sea Girt, but nothing was bothering them. Matt Slobodjian reports from Jim's Tackle in Cape May as follows: "The striper bite is still mainly to the north of us. The best this week was from Townsend's Inlet up to Brigantine on the schools of bunker. Some boats reported double digit catches of fish. Most guys are trolling or snag and drop fishing with bunker. Sea bass are still biting well on the offshore wrecks on the 20 fathom line. I did speak to a few guys that ran out to the rock pile just inside the Wilmington Canyon. They said the big fish didn't seem to be there yet, they actually had a lot of short fish. There were a few bass caught on the beach Saturday morning in Cape May along with one redfish that I know of. There are still some tog being caught from the rock piles, not in big numbers -- but enough to put a catch together."
