If you haven't done so already, please e-mail the ASMFC at comments@ASMFC.org Subject line  - Menhaden PID with support for Option D under Issue 1 for reference points that will allow growth of the menhaden stock to historic levels for that vital forage fish. This is the last day to send that message. The Ocean Explorer from Belmar sailed into a big ground swell this morning, and had picky blackfishing. Yet there were a few limits up to 8 pounds caught. The NW wind should settle the ocean for better conditions on Thursday. Conditions weren't ideal either in Cape Coral, Fl. when I joined Dennis Pellegrino of Hamilton on his boat in Cape Coral. He and neighbor John King hoped to fish reefs in the Gulf of Mexico, but there was a front coming through that produced some early rain and then just enough north wind that would have made the trip offshore uncomfortable. An attempt for sea trout on the inside didn't work out, but Pellegrino drifted famed Redfish Pass at the tip of Captiva Island with live shrimp and squid strips that were hit constantly by small fish such as sea catfish, mangrove snappers and sea bass. A couple of the latter were large enough that they could have been kept.
