Snow and poor road conditions eliminated fishing today, bur better weather is coming this week. Capt. Charlie Fornabio, formerly from Belmar, had a good report from Wabasso, Florida as follows: "Had another great week as the weather cooperated nicely to begin the new year. The redfish were around the docks both N and S of the Ft. Pierce Inlet; most were undersized, but we did catch a couple of slot fish as we fought our way through the sheepshead to get to them. With the river temp being a solid 75 degrees, snook were active in the mangroves. A couple of pompano were caught on Docs Goofy Jigs around the spoil islands, but the bulk of the pompano population seems to be south of us in the Stuart area. I was able to get out the inlet and fish along the inshore reefs and had 2 days of great fishing. Spanish, sheepshead, bluefish, weakfish, sharks, ribbonfish, jacks, croakers, and even a wayward pompano in 30 feet of water. Most of these fish were caught on artificials with the exception of the sheepshead which were caught on live shrimp. Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you soon.Keep casting,Capt Charlie Fornabio fishingverobeach.com 772 360 7647 Vinnie D'Anton of Wall was wade fishing north of his winter home in Sarasota a couple of days ago, and was happy to catch a couple of spotted sea trout on a MirrOlure. Surprisingly, he also hooked several puffers (blowfish) on that plug.
