1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

I got back home late today after having a hard time leaving the Somerset Saltwater Expo due to the multitude of interesting exhibits. There was a full house at my morning seminar on fishing locally for big stripers. Rather than using my slide presentation that many have seen at previous Expos, I invited Chuck Many to present his show that was really an eyeopener for the crowd that included some tips I never thought that Many would give up in public. Gary Quon finished up with information about how to use the Tady light metal lures designed for west coast fishing -- before giving each angler at the seminar a sample to use this year. I first used a Tady a couple of decades ago during a long range trip out of San Diego for wahoo. They worked as advertised on a fast retrieve for wahoo, but when that bite slowed I dropped the Tady to bottom and hooked what turned out to be an IGFA world record leather bass. Quon will be at the Tady booth Sunday to explain how to work his lures. He'll provide a free lure to anyone buying two Tadys from a retailer at the show. There are many other lure manufacturers at the Expo, including Capt. Pete Meyers who never runs out of ideas or better finishes for his Run-Off Lures -- while also offering the most economical braided line available. Don Parr of Brick is showing his HS-20 three-speed jigging reel, and all the national manufacturers such as Shimano, Penn, Daiwa, and VanStaal are on hand. Also be sure to check out Tony Arcabascio at Tony Maja's Custom Bunker Spoons.  The Expo winds up at Garden State Exhibit Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with a full range of seminars from area pros.
