Tank Matraxia and his Lyndhurst crew were anticipating an active Tuesday morning trip with Johnny Bucktails out of Keyport. They sure saw lots of stripers on the fishfinder, but unlike Sunday the bass weren't hitting well. The shad lures that were so effective that day were largely ignored today, and only one bass in the teens was caught that way while another was added on a chunk when they tried that method. Matraxia said other casters were having the same problem, but trollers did better. Without a doubt, those stripers will start hitting again at any moment.
The Golden Eagle from Belmar hasn't found stripers in the ocean yet, and won't be sailing on Wednesday. However, they anticipate sailing daily after that with weather conditions that will work in their favor.
