1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

After bringing in the first mako shark and school bluefin tuna from the canyons earlier in the week, the Canyon Runner from Point Pleasant ran a Saturday to Sunday overnighter that produced the first yellowfin tuna (about 35 pounds) and two dolphin from canyons in over 1000 fathoms off Delaware for David Stratoff and his son. They topped the catch with a 60-inch bluefin in the 90-pound class, and another of about 35 pounds.  Honors for the first N.J. bigeye tuna fell to a boat in the Canyon Runner reporting team as the Flying Fish landed one in Cape May on the way back from North Carolina. The Canyon Runner will be checking out inshore reports of giant tuna. For information on Canyon Runner charter and individual openings call Adam La Rosa at 732 272-4445.
1st Mako in Manasquan - Maybe N.J. - John Van Bramer Charter Congrats to One of Our Members on the "Flying Fish" Pulling Into Cape May With a Nice 1st Big-Eye on His Way Home From N.C. The Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands got out on the morning trip and continued a pick of fluke that provided a meal for most. At Belmar, the Ocean Explorer reported lots of sea bass on every drop as limits were boated. The Big Mohawk also had hot sea bass fishing, but will concentrate on fluke tomorrow. At Seaside Park, Grumpy's Tackle only had one weigh-in Sunday, but it was a 36-inch, 14.95-pound striper on bunker for John Benskith. John Bushell, at Betty & Nick's noted a pick of blues, bass and fluke in the surf, but is worried about the spring migration of big stripers that went offshore of us the last two springs. There were no ocean bluefish reports.
