Griffin's 86-pound white marlin looked like a good bet to win the big money at the White Marlin Open in Ocean City, Md., but on the last day of the contest that white was clearly beaten when Wire Nut from Annapolis, Md. weighed a 95.5-pounder. There was also a change in third as M.R. Ducks bought in a 79.5-pounder. There was little change otherwise as no blue marlin big enough to weigh could be caught -- though there was finally a dolphin on the board. I'll have details Saturday when official results become available.
