Capt. Ron Santee is on a roll with weekend doormat fluke on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands. Eddie Fernandez was the man on Saturday as he boated a 31 3/4-inch fluke that weighed 10 pounds, 10 ounces. Capt. Stan Zagleski reported a fine day with both large fluke and sea bass on rough bottom with his Elaine B II from Bahrs in Highlands -- and wishes it had been like this all season. Tank Matraxia of Lyndhurst joined Emil Pavalac's party with Capt. John Contello on Just Sayin from Keyport, but they didn't find fluking in Anbrose to be as good as on Thursday. He said the six keepers were all well over the 18-inch minimum, with the largest at 7 pounds.  Matraxia also put ALS tags in 15 shorts. Scott Leadbeater of Haddon Heights fished his Osprey out of Atlantic Highlands on Friday, but didn't get a good drift. He boated a 20-inch fluke in the Reach, and Tim Mogck added a a 19-incher at Chapel Hill. The Golden Eagle from Belmar reported good chumming for bonito and chub mackerel plus sea bass, some fluke and a blackfish. The Jamaica from Brielle had a slow start to Friday's chumming, but ended up with a mix of bonito, a couple of blues, lots of chub mackerel, fluke, sea bass, little tunny and dolphin. Chris Fail of Downingtown, Pa. won the pool with a 6.5-pound little tunny. Casting from shore into Shark River this morning produced two small stripers on jigs for me plus a 26-inch bluefish on a Tactical Anglers Bomb Jr. popper. Tommy Cox released two 4-to-5-pound blues on a paddletail jig. Joe Melillo, at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant weighed a 6-pound fluke that Robert Skudera of Midland Park caught in the ocean. Melillo noted that canal regulars caught big blues during the middle of the night on jigs.
