The Golden Eagle from Belmar got started jigging 15-to-20-pound blues, but the bite turned off quickly even though they still saw and read the jumbos. Three little tunny were caught later. Also at that port, the Ocean Explorer had plenty of action with porgies and a few blackfish and tiiggerfish. The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant had some of the "right" bites during Tuesday's Mud Hole tuna trip, but none were caught. Jim Steel won the pool with a dolphin. The surf was rough this morning, but Vinny D'Anton of Wall released a 24-inch striper that hit a Chug Bug at Belmar, and Joe Melillo at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant reported a few bass are being caught in the local surf on metal. The Seaside Park tackle shops are reporting small blues in the surf, with a few bass among them.
