It's too bad the party boats didn't have the jigging for jumbo bluefish that's been going on this week during the summer -- when they were chasing after tiny blues and happy to get them. Now, Capt. Dave Riback of the Queen Mary from Point Pleasant says they're all over 10 pounds, mostly in the mid-teens, plus some in the 20-pound class -- and there's lots of them.  Today was a good day for that jigging as Riback said they hit everything. The Golden Eagle from Belmar continued to load up on those blues. They will run their last night trip on Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Capt. Rob Semkewyc reported another fine day of striper fishing on his Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands despite all the boat traffic in Raritan Bay. He found enough keepers on the N.J. side before going over to N.Y. where lots of bonus bass were released -- though he ended up being able to keep some some of them upon returning to N.J. Joe Melillo, at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant, reported a good start to winter flounder fishing at both ends of the canal on both worms and clams. Allen Riley of South Plainfield fished Sandy Hook along with a lot of other surfcasters, but saw no bait and no fish caught except for his lone hickory shad. I tried the rough Mantoloking surf three times during the day with no success, but the moonrise was spectacular! continued
