The hot striped bass fishery in Raritan Bay continued today, but with the addition of lots of small bass. Chuck Many of Annandale and I released even more stripers today than during the wild casting bite with Tsunami 5-inch shads last Wednesday afternoon on his Ty Man from Gateway Marina in Highlands, 54 to 51, but most of them were small bass rather than the quality fish of last week. We still had plenty of keepers, but only two bass in the middle ranges. I'll have more about this in Friday's column. Capt. Rob Semkewyc had another hot day of striper fishing on his Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands -- topped by a 28-pounder for Sandar Baker of Norristown, Pa. The Golden Eagle from Belmar reported a decent day of striper fishing, with bass up to 25 pounds,  though the bite was not up to the previous two days. The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant also didn't have as many bass as they wanted from fussier fish. They noted that jigs worked better than shads. Capt. Chris Di Stefano of Wall was part of the crew on Frank Criscola's Crisdel from Brielle Yacht Club on Monday when they caught stripers on everything and limited on "under" keepers and couldn't find one over a 42-incher.
