The striped bass migratory bite continued at a very high level for boaters in the Raritan Bay area, as detailed by Capt. Rob Semkowyc of the Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands.: "I have been doing this for a long time and this may go down as one of the best fall runs ever. I have seen many good days but not as consistent as its been this fall. The only slow days have been on the super nice days when everyone who has a boat is out and racing around like a idiot. All I can say is that it doesn't get better then this. We had the limit of big fish early again today and played catch and release for the rest of the day Jigs and shads worked well. If you want to catch some nice stripers, now is the time. I don't know how long this kind of fishing can last. The pool winner was 24 lbs and caught by John Martins from Green Brook NJ. Here are a few pics.+++++ See you soon, Capt. Rob" Also at Atlantic Highlands, Capt. Ron Santee of the Fishermen reported another great day of striper fishing including lots of bird action plus feeding whales. Dan Haley of West Chester, Pa. made his first-ever striper a memorable one as the 44-incher weighed 32 pounds -- and won the pool. Mike Skirka boated a 38-inch, 26-pounder, and June Benson had a 35-inch, 25-pounder. Shads worked best. At Belmar Marina, the Golden Eagle reported even better striper fishing than the day before -- with lots of keepers. Bob Matthews, at Fisherman's Den, noted that 8-year-old Jack Gregory of Linwood caught a 28-pound striper Monday morning while trolling a Mo-Jo from his father's boat just minutes from Shark River Inlet. Surfcasters were lined up at Monmouth Beach at dawn, but only a few small bass were caught on poppers. Vinny D'Anton of Wall later joined other anglers casting from a bar in Sandy Hook that produced large stripers on poppers, including an 18-pound release by D'Anton. The Jamaica from Brielle is making the last party boat canyon tuna trip of the year at 7 a.m. Wednesday. For reservations call 732 528-5014.Capt.
