There aren't many boats left to chase them, but schools of striped bass that seem to be hitting everything have finally arrived along the Shore. Capt. Paul Regula noted on Facebook that they were releasing large bass from his Bounty Hunter out of Point Pleasant by 8:30 this morning. Capt. Jim Freda was also into those bass on his Shore Catch. Capt. Rob Semkeyc had planned on striper fishing today with his Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands, but put it off until the weekend. The Jamaica from Brielle had very good far offshore wreck fishing Saturday. Jose Abuie from Sterling, Va. won the pool with a 6.5-pound sea bass  to edge Paul Ryan's 6-pounder. The Jamaica is running a final canyon tuna trip on Wednesday at 9 p.m. Call 732 528-5014 for details and reservations. Matt from Jim's Tackle in Cape May reports boaters there had 40-inch plus stripers practically right outside their inlet last Monday and Tuesday. "Later in the week the fish moved out and the bite was better off of Stone Harbor and Sea Isle City. Meredith Balakas boated a 39 lb. bass she caught trolling on a Mojo rig. John Di Donato of Hammonton caught a 41.8 lber also on a Mojo. Richard Pavese of Cape May landed a 47.7 lb. fish and Rick Bucholz of Furlong Pa. boated a 48 lb. bass also on a Mojo. No reports from the Rips or the Bay this week as anglers are starting to thin out down here.Blackfishing is still good on wrecks in the 80-100 ft. range and sea bass are still biting well on the 20 Fathom line and out to the Rockpile just inside the Wilmington Canyon. The beach bite is still mainly short bass and dogfish." Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant said surfcasting in Island Beach State Park wasn't as good as on Monday, but he still released 29 small stripers. Vinny D'Anton of Wall fished the Sea Girt surf on the high tide for a brief bite of small stripers, and saw another angler catch a 24-incher -- which is big at this stage of the game. I went down there at dusk in hopes of finding another 26-incher like I caught the previous evening, but only managed a single 19-incher on a Tsunami Sand Eel -- and saw just two others caught at dusk.  Allen Riley of South Plainfield went to Sandy Hook at mid-day, but only saw a couple of herring or hickory shad caught by abother angler.
