1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

The Ocean Explorer from Belmar hooked into some huge blackfish today as the west wind was lighter to permit offshore fishing. Their report wasn't formatted to be able to read it all, but they said a tog over 20 pounds broke off on the leader near the surface, and another not much smaller took over the seasonal pool lead. There was a photo of a 17.6-pounder that was probably that tog. The Ocean Explorer is fishing daily, including New Year's Day, for those super tog, but the west wind forecasts are going back up the next few days. There were no positive reports from the surf today. Jim Louro of Spring Lake did try his local beach in the morning, but saw no signs of life.
