The Canyon Runner from Point Pleasant got off to a great start after resuming tuna fishing out of Oregon Inlet. N.C. on Saturday. Though a giant was lost in the morning, Capt. Deane Lambros kept drifting the edge of the Gulf Stream to boat a small bigeye tuna plus yellowfins before they got into heavy readings which produced another hook-up of a giant which came right to the boat. It wasn't exactly IGFA, but they harpooned the 92-incher which put up quite a fight on the harpoon line.
Adam La Rosa noted that there are only a few tickets left for Saturday's Canyon Runner Seminar at Huntington, Long Island. Call him at 732 842-6825 for tickets and info about tuna charters.
There looks to be a window of opportunity for fishing in decent weather on Tuesday -- and the Ocean Explorer plans to sail from Belmar at 7 a.m. for blackfish and cod. The northwest wind is supposed to die down overnight -- followed by a light southwest breeze in the morning.
