Catch-up of blackfish reports Details Created on Thursday, 07 December 2017 20:54 Written by Capt. Ron Blackfishing has continued to be on the slow side. Just as it seems like its starting to improve it just falls off. We've been primarily fishing north of shark river, hitting all different spots in different depths. Jigs have been the favorite on most trips. A few big fish so far but not many. the fishing Should be breaking wide open soon. This is definitely the slowest start to the season we've ever had.    Sunday report: 12/3 Well just as yesterday was starting to look a little promising it took a huge swing today. Fishing was nowhere near what it was yesterday. Just a pick here and there. A lot tougher bites as well. I’m sure the super moon didn’t help matters either. It’s been a tough season so far, but it’s bound to bounce in the right direction hopefully sooner than later. Wound up with 12 in the box today.   Saturday blackfish report: 12/2 Wound up with 16 keepers for the day. Today was the best bite we’ve had since the first 2 opening days. Busted off a couple big ones and had a lot of shorts. Should of had more but a lot of missed opportunities. Very strong current too which didn’t help. But the good news is it’s starting to improve.   WEDNESDAY BLACKFISH REPORT: 11/29 Definitely no sugar coating this one, definitely our toughest day. Had wind out of the west and a swell from the south that made for a very bump day. Hit a bunch of different pieces to try and find some fish but it was hard. Some spots had a couple shorts, some nothing, only a couple of dogs as well. Didn’t find any decent life until very late in the day where we were able to pick at a few shorts and a keeper here and there. But it was still slow. Managed 5 keepers and the real heartbreaker was Eddie Bud busting off a pig on a jig.   SATURDAY BLACKFISH REPORT: 11/25 Well pretty much same report just a different day. Had another great group out today with lots of laughs. Worked a bunch of areas today some with not a scratch and some with life but nothing great. Saw more dogs today than we’ve been seeing. Had some shorts with a keeper here and there. Wound up putting 16 in the box along with a seabass.   Friday Blackfish Report: 11/24 Had a tough day out there today with a great crew. Tried some new areas because Fishing has been tough since it opened. Started out with good life and then it quickly got shut down with a horrible current, which then made anchoring very difficult. Bounced around a bit today trying to find some life. Crew was able to grind out 14 keepers. Thanks again guys.   ***THANKSGIVING BLACKFISH REPORT*** 11/23 Happy thanksgiving to everyone. Had a short trip this morning to make sure everyone was home early enough to enjoy some turkey. Fishing was definitely tough today. Just couldn’t build life anywhere and some spots were complete duds. Did a lot of moving and started to get something going towards the end but conditions were complete crap. Couldn’t stay tight on the anchors and kept sliding all over the place. If we had better conditions and more time we would have done better. Crew managed 16 nice roasters for the box and we’ll be at it again in the am.
