The weather was fine and blackfishing improved today on Elaine B II from Highlands. Capt. Stan Zagleski started in shallower waters that weren't productive, but a move deeper was better as Wayne Pindar of Red Bank managed a limit out of eight keepers he hooked. Whitelegger crabs were most effective. The weather looks good for Tuesday's trip. There were a few small stripers caught in the Monmouth County surf Sunday morning. Joe Melillo, at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant, said Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant caught one locally; John Tiedaman of that town accounted for two there; and John Longo from Brick released three in Point Pleasant. I tried casting at Point Pleasant in the morning today, and at Sea Girt in the afternoon but never saw a sign of a fish. The Mimi VI from Point Pleasant will be running limited 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. open bottom fishing trips through January. Call 732 370-8019 for details and the schedule.
