It was a nice Sunday for fishing, but there were no reports. Joe Melillo noted from Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant that no one had any reports of school stripers in the surf either Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Betty & Nick's in Seaside Park hasn't been getting any feedback from the very few anglers who have tried the surf there -- and labeled the situation "Done". At Brielle,  the Big Jamaica is leaving at 10 p.m. daily before Jan. 1 to fish the far offshore wrecks for jumbo sea bass and porgies except on the holidays. Call 732 528-5014 for reservations. Jamaica II  is wrapping up its blackfish trips at 7:30 a.m. Monday and Tuesday plus Dec. 28.They have 12-hour trips at 5 a.m. for cod, pollock and ling on Dec. 29, 30 and 31. Looking to January, they will seek whiting every Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Paramount is running 10 1/2-hour trips daily at 6:30 a.m. for cod, pollock and ling. The Golden Eagle from Belmar begins the search for mackerel on Saturday.
