The return to warmer and less windy conditions provided surfcasters with a shot today, and there will hopefully be some reports of success tomorrow -- though legal stripers will be a real surprise at this point. Both Grumpy's and Betty & Nick's in Seaside Park are reporting some small bass are being caught on plugs and metal. Bob Matthews, at Fisherman's Den in Belmar Marina reports several regulars at the ,shop did a blackfish trip yesterday on Parker Pete's that worked out well. Marty Westerfield boated a 12-pound trophy. Tom Diggs, John Ozbock and Charlie Dana had limits -- and most tog were over 6 pounds.
