1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

The most consistent surf fishing lately has been for small blues on mullet at Island Beach State Park. Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park says that's been best in the south end of the park. Ken Welshman plugged a 29.5-inch, 7.75-pound striper Tuesday on a Bomber. The west wind has moderated the swell, and conditions were decent this morning when I cast metal at Bay Head, but there was no sign of bait or fish. The eclipse of the moon didn't provide any help, and was hardly visible in cloud cover.  The bad weather forecast kept most of the fleet in port on Wednesday, but it looks good for boating into Friday. Sad news was the passing of Capt Jim Curcio yesterday of a massive heart attack at just 62. Curcio ran his Shananigens out of Morgan, and was a dedicated striper angler. Capt. Sal Cursi says there will be a viewing Friday at Flynn's in Fords from 3-4 and 7-9 p.m.
