The best news of the day came from the Queen Mary out of Point Pleasant as they had a good bite of big blues on both jigs and bait. Jim Gillespie won the pool with a 20-pound dolphin.  Small blues on bait was the surf nrews from both Grumpy's and Betty & Nick's in Seaside Park, and the latter weighed in it's first fall bass -- a 30-inch, 8 1/4-pounder by Tom Nolan of Ridgefield. The Cock Robin from Point Pleasant has changed Monday's trip from bonito to big blues departing at 7:30 due to uncertainty as to where bonito might be after the storm. I tried the Sea Girt surf this morning, but didn't raise a thing on my popper. The ride was lower than when I normally fish there, but the swell wasn't bad and there was plenty of the desired white water. An angler who was fishing bait released a small blue. He said it was solid dogfish before daylight.  Joe Melillo, at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant, said some small bass are hitting black plugs in the surf at night. Blackfishing remains good on crabs in the canal. Capt. Stan Zagleski said Sunday was a beautiful day to start fall bottom fishing with his Elaine B II from Highlands. There was life everywhere he tried, and his anglers caught good numbers of porgies while having to throw back out of season sea bass.  Capt. Dave De Gennaro is moving his Hi-Flier from Barnegat to Manasquan for the fall striper run after trying for bonito again Monday at Barnegat Ridge on an open trip. The water temperature remains at 68 to 69 degrees. Another NE blow is pedicted from Tuesday night into Thursday.
