The Manasquan River Marlin & Tuna Club Offshore Open drew 78 boats that built up a purse of over $169,000 for last week's contest. Miss Mikalya Ann ended up as top gun with over $60,000 for boating a 198.5-pound bigeye tuna. Very close behind were Prime Time with a 186-pounder, and Canyon Runner at 184.5 pounds. Blue Runner, which opened the contest with a boatload of bigeyes that led for almost everything, ended up only winning the daily jackpot of $1,638.75 with the tuna plus second in white marlin releases with one as that category was decided on time released since no boat had more than a single release. Pepper won the albacore award with a 51.7-pounder, and Bear took the swordfish money with a 193.5-pound entry. Hubris was tops in dolphin at 40.7 pounds, and Canyon Reels president Don Parr was aboard Jersey Nutz to reel in a 43.5-pound wahoo. Envelopeus was placed first on time with their single white marlin release, as was My Lynn in blue marlin releases with the earlier release ahead of Hayley Nicole.
