Bluefin tuna anglers will get a modest break from NMFS when fishing for bluefin tuna this year. Boats permitted in the Angling category will be able to retain one school bluefin of 27 to less than 47 inches -- plus another large school or small medium from 47 to less than 73 inches per trip. Previously that opportunity to boat both an "over and an under"was only available to charter and party boats. Joe Melillo had some inshore striper news at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant. Mike Comune released four short stripers on plugs from Manasquan River, and Paul Morin, also of the Spring Lake Live Liners, caught three there. Mickey Sweeney plugged a short from the Point Pleasant Beach surf. Allen Riley of South Plainfield fished clams at Monmouth Beach without success during a very low tide in the morning, but his friend, Duke Matero, caught a skate and a doubleheader of horseshoe crabs.   Rich Leadbeater of Haddon Heights managed a few stripers at Flynn's Knoll during Sunday's strong west winds from his father's Aquasport out of Atlantic Highlands. Ellen Dunham of Haddon Heights and Andy Hoyer from Chesterfield were in on the clamming action. Party boats had a hard time in Sunday's wind against tide conditions, and few bass were caught. However, Elaine B. from Highlands reported  a 19-inch fluke that would have been legal later in the month.
