1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

There weren't many people at Atlantic Highlands this morning, so only a couple of boats sailed. The Sea Hunter, which caught its first keepers up to 25 pounds a couple of days ago, got into small bass despite many moves. The Dorothy B stayed put on one drop and ended up with their best day so far -- just one bass short of a boat limit for the small group. Blackfishing has been poor so far. Capt. Tommy Joseph, of Fish Tank from Belmar, blames it on cold bottom waters. He ended up in Shark River during the last two trips to catch flounder. Yet, Capt. Stan Zagleski was talked into trying for tautog next weekend, before the season closes,  by some of his regulars. He'll sail Elaine B from Bahrs in Highlands at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Big Mac from Green Harbor, Ma. got into 72 haddock today while fishing north of Stellwagen Bank. Some scrod cod were mixed in, and that fishing is expected to improve as waters warm.
