The snow didn't interfere with surfcasting along the Shore this morning, but the southeast wind that came with it did. The Bay Head-Point Pleasant area has been producing a pick of small stripers, but Jerry Lasko and I didn't do a thing this morning. The southeast wind was moderate, but birds stayed on the outside of the outer bar. By afternoon it was actually much nicer, and mild enough that gloves weren't necessary. When I arrived there were loons working in the surf, but casting into them didn't produce any hits. Lasko had caught two small stripers close to the drop-off on the Tsunami Swim Eel, and added another while I was there. I did a lot of blind casting into the rough surf with a Run-Off Sand Eel jig and a teaser with the short, slim Tsunami Sand Eel teaser that had been productive yesterday morning. That teaser provided me with three small bass on long casts into the rough surf. The switch to west winds will bring cooler temperatures, but hopefully calm the surf and turn the bass on again.
