FLUKEWATCH ’14

September Edition

Here we are! The World Series of Fluking, The Fluke Super Bowl, The Fluke Cup, whatever name you want to come up with, it all ends today! By the end of this morning’s trip we will not only close out the 2014 Fluke Season, but we will add another name to the list of Flukemaster Classic Champions. With the likes of Kerry, Rullo, Smith, and Yeager, one lucky angler will forever have his name synonymous with fluking greatness; He will be called a Flukemaster Champion!

The current leader is Bill Reid, who on Monday, September 15th landed an 8lb 12 oz beast, big enough to put his name on top of the monthly leaderboard. 12 days later Bill’s name still stands. Today there are 50 anglers vying for that top spot, a chance for greatness, a chance for stardom, and a chance to be $960.00 richer. Can it be done you ask? Well, yes it can. Just last September Wayne Smith pulled off the impossible and made what looked like a fantasy become reality. At 1:17pm, and only minutes remaining in the trip, Wayne pulled up an 8 pound doormat, and crushed the dreams of one Walter Petka who had been the leader for the majority of the month with a 7lb 8oz fluke. Five Time Champ Steve Kerry is another angler who has won on the final day of the season. In 2011, Steve landed the tournaments only 10 pounder to steal the money away from Joe Mattis.

It looks the morning is shaping up to be a beauty as we cross the bay en route to our fishing destination. The pitchforks are out, and the torches are lit. We are moments away from dropping in the water. Bill Reid, you have 6 hours to survive. Good luck!
