Congratulations to the two Carm’s, Carmine Mangini & Carmen Patullo, on winning the May/June Flukemaster pool worth $1,240.00. It was a battle, but you guys survived!

The fishing during the month of June was average at best. There were days where we would only catch a dozen or so keepers, but out of the dozen, eight of them would be 4 and 5 pounds with a 6 or 7 pounder mixed in. There was very little in the way of short fish activity which made for a grind on most days, but we were fortunate to have those bigger fish which would make the day. Just about all of our time has been spent in New York waters which benefits us this year because 1.We have a New York permit which allows us to fish in NY waters, and 2. This year we share size and bag limits. We would absolutely LOVE to have the fish on our side of the bay, but the fact is there are not enough fluke there. Hopefully that will change as these fish move around, but as of now it is what it is.

Today we headed up north again. The fluking yesterday was not that good. There were fish caught, but the keeper ratio was terrible. So, we are going to try a few different locations that we haven’t touched in a while. Maybe it pays off. We will certainly know at the end of the day.

First Drift
Started the morning fishing along South Beach S.I.. There were a few shorts caught, but not enough to keep us here.

Second Drift
Made this one on a few lumps near the islands. Caught a couple of keepers, and only a few shorts. We are going to change it up and head to NE.

Third Drift
We are steady picking the shorts and a couple of very nice keepers came over the rail. One caught by Mike Butler and the other was caught by Keeper Pete. . . The conditions here today are perfect with everything carrying us nicely along the beach.

Fourth Drift
We are back to catching a few each time we stop with a keeper or two mixed in. It is not very good here today. Going to push off the beach for the next one.

Fifth Drift
This was a good one if you were a shark hunter! Massive shark invasion. . . This was not a very good drift. A couple of shorts mixed in with the sharks, and one keeper. We are completely changing it up and heading to southwest.

Sixth Drift
Some shorts. A few sharks. And two keepers.

Seventh Drift
We ended the day just like every other drift today.

Postgame
The fishing wasn’t very good today. We slow picked all day with one or two keepers coming up on each drift. Small bucktails with pink Gulp Grubs worked the best. Pool fish weighed 5 pounds and high hook had 3 keepers. Also, the early leader for the month of July is Mr. Co-June Flukemaster winner Carmine Mangini with a 4 lb 1 oz fish.
