Pregame Show
Hello! I’m back after a few day off for family time. Let’s get you caught up with the events that have unfolded over the course of the last 4 days. I’m going to start with the September Flukemaster Pool which has had five lead changes since Monday. Jimmy Bufis took the lead last Wednesday with a 4lb 4 oz fluke, only to be beat on Friday by Paul Alesi who caught a 5 lb 2 oz fish. The May/June Flukemaster winner, George Doll, was on board Saturday and landed a fish that was 2 ounces heavier than the leader, giving him the top spot for the month, however, Paul Alesi would not be denied! Paul came back on Sunday with vengeance, looking to reclaim the top spot, and he did just that! Paul jigged up a 6 lb 1 oz fluke to put himself back on top of the leaderboard, and that is where we stand today. The pot currently stands at $480.00.

Now onto the fishing. There were a few shining moments, with Friday and Saturday being the overall standout days. The before mentioned George Doll, Jeff Frierich, and Danny Holowich each caught their limit, and there were others with 3 and 4 keepers. On Sunday, we headed right back to the area we had the good fishing, however, the fish that were there all week had moved overnight. We scoured around trying to find them with no success.

Finally, I am going to finish up the pregame with a true story that is sure to end up a fish tale. On Saturday, Andy Sokol was jigging up in the pulpit, and set the hook on a good fish. After a few cranks the fish came off the bottom. It was evident that this was going to be a good fish. After getting this beast a few feet off the bottom, a serious head shake took it off the hook. After letting out an exhale that was heard around the bow, Andy continued reeling in his line only to find a  7 to 8 pound fluke following his Spro up to the surface. Upon seeing the boat, and hearing the sounds of cries from people in disbelief, this beast darted back to the depths of Chapel Hill Channel in search of its next meal. The heartbreak of what could have been will haunt Mr. Sokol for a lifetime. What if??

Fall Schedule Update
There will be life after fluke this year! Beginning on Wednesday, September 25th we will be fishing for porgies. On the 27th sea bass opens, and you will be able to throw them into the mix as well. Our schedule starting on the 25th will be as followed:

Wednesday’s, Saturday’s & Sunday’s
7:30am – 4:00pm
Fare: $65

First Thru Third Drifts
Today is one of those “It is what it is” kind of days with the hard northeast wind limiting where we can fish. We are set up in Chapel Hill Channel, making short drifts with the wind and current carrying us across. We pick a few fish each time. It is not good, but considering the conditions, it’s not bad.

Fourth Drift
The wind has eased up enough for us to take a shot in Ambrose. We are on the tide change which will help. Maybe we catch a little gold.

Postgame Show
Today’s fishing was not very good. The east wind was a factor, so I really can’t say if the fish from the weekend have left. High hook caught three keepers. We will head back out tomorrow in hope of filling coolers and catching doormats. On a final note, look for pictures of a 6′ 4″ man wear a Dallas Cowboys tutu tomorrow! Ahhhhh. Sweet revenge! Pow Pow!
