Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing June 23

We made both morning and afternoon trips today from the Atlantic Highlands marina. We are fishing the same areas in the Sandy Hook and Raritan bays depending on the conditions. The morning started out with a pick of shorts and a few keepers. We tried a few other spots but the conditions were no better. It turned out to be a poor morning. The afternoon trip turned out to be much better. The drifting conditions were nice and we picked the fish all afternoon. We ended up with one of our better catches. The number of big fish was the best we have seen on one trip so far this year. The pool fish was a 8lber caught by George Bakos from Red Bank N.J. There were other fish in the 4 to 5lb range. There were no limits but some guys had 1 or 2 keepers and some had none. There are some new pictures of todays fish in the gallery so take a look. The fishing has had it's ups and downs but come on down and maybe you can be here for a good one and catch some of these nice size fluke. We are sailing everyday making two trips (8am to 12:30 and  1:30 to 6pm). Looking forward to seeing everyday.
