After a day of maintenance getting
some oil changed and such on Tuesday
and a day of hard northwest winds
yesterday, we were back on the water
today with an open boat group of great
guys.  We were able to get some fresh
bunker, so we tried for bass for a
portion of today's trip.  Patience paid, as
the bites weren't fast and furious, but we
managed to get a handful of bites.  We
put a hook in four, pulling the hook on
one about four feet from the boat and
boating three up to 25 pounds that
made the box.  As the tide approached
its end, we switched gears and made
our first attempt at drum for the spring.
We got on a really nice bite, hooking
seven or eight, getting five to the
boat(kept four) and breaking the leader
on one right next to the boat.  All BIG
fish in the 50 to 75 pound range.  Great
to see and we will be targeting drum
exclusively over the next couple weeks
until sea bass opens.  Hope to see you
aboard!

Aboard with us today were Stan
Prukowski and his private charter for
stripers today.  We departed in thick fog
and made our way to the bassing
grounds.  We had some beautiful bait,
and set up for the end of the ebb tide.
We got a couple quick bites, putting two
nice fish in the boat early in the
morning.  As the tide slacked, we made
a move for the other tide and had a nice
bite as the tide got rolling boxing five
more bass and missing/pulling the hook
on several more.  Another great day on
the bay with 7 beautiful bass in the box
to 45".  Thanks guys!
