Hello all!  I hope everyone is staying
warm.  This weather has been brutal to
say the least.  With the forecast of
record cold, heavy snow tonight, and
more cold behind it, I have decided to
end our season with the last trip.
Moving forward, the water is going to
be super cold and with the weather not
giving us any windows, we are going to
haul out and get started on some
maintenance and a couple upgrades
to The Bomb.  We are booking trips for
2015, so if you're thinking about
getting out there, give us a call!

February 7, 2015

We had James Lee aboard again with
his buddies Gabe and Dennis. We also
had Jeff, Tom, and Chip aboard. Once
again, fishing was very good. The
water temperature had dropped about
four degrees since our last trip, but we
still got on some very nice fish at our
first stop. When the tide slacked, the
anchors wouldn't stay tight, so we
pulled the hooks and made a move.
Our second stop of the day was also
very good. We had a really nice bite
here with fish to 13lbs, and several
other 10 plus came aboard.

Gabe nabbed a personal best which
was 10 plus(released). Dennis also got
a beauty that was 11lbs(also
released). Everyone else got beautiful
fish, as well. I made one or two drops,
and was lucky enough to nab the
biggest of the day that was just about
13 pounds back on the scale. Some
really beautiful males came aboard at
our second spot. We finished with a
limit of fish to 10 plus...several over 10,
two over 11, and a lot of 6 to 10
pounders.

February 1, 2015

February started out with a bang
today!  We had James, Jim, Greg, TJ,
Shawn, and Traci aboard to head out
looking for big tog.  Boy did we find
them!  We had an excellent bite fishing
in a new area with drop and reel
fishing at times.  Many 7 to 10 pound
fish came over the rail today and our
biggest went 14+ that was released by
TJ post limit.  We also had several
other 10 plus with an 11 and 12
rounding out the biggest along with the
released 14.  A limit for all was had
today.  James Lee was on fire catching
throughout the trip and while using a
whole white crab on a snafu, caught a
double header with a 5 and 8
pounder.  What a day!  Great job,
guys!

Wow!  We finally dug out from the epic
snowstorm that buried us under 1/8" of
snow.  It's a good thing I didn't put the
beach toys away so I could use my five
year old daughter's little beach shovel
to clear the driveway!  The roads are
all clear down here and we are hoping
to get back out before the end of the
week!  Stay tuned!

January 23, 2015

Hello everyone!

We had James Cobb and company
aboard today for their tog charter, and
I had my boy Greg aboard to help with
the anchors and such. These guys
booked this date back in September,
and although I advised to play it by
year as the weather is less than
cooperative many times in January,
they said they had a good feeling and
would stay with it. Well, James might be
the new official trip booker as he
picked a dandy!

While it was pretty cold first thing this
morning and we had to do some
deicing on the Bomb, the winds were
light and the seas were relatively calm
this morning and laid out to completely
flat this afternoon.

We started out in an area we tried a
week and a half ago, while we did box
a few nice fish, it wasn't what it was last
week. On the way out, we noticed the
water temperature had increased since
we were last out. So, we decided to run
back a fuzz shallower and try some
stuff closer to home. Well, boy were we
glad we did! We stopped on a spot
and had some of the most exceptional
togging you could imagine with the size
of the fish being absolutely fantastic! It
was drop and reel mayhem with
multiple big fish coming up at a time,
and before we knew it were limited out
and everyone was sweating and
breathing heavy!

Final tally...boat limit...size of fish...sick!

We had eleven over 10lbs which we
weighed in at Harbor View. Big thanks
to Irene from Harbor View for meeting
us at the fuel dock to weigh some of
these boys and girls in. From
"smallest" to biggest...

10.15, 10.35, 10.39, 10.63, 10.75,
11.25, 11.52, 11.56, 12.13, 12.65, 13.7

What a day and everyone had
personal bests today! THANKS VERY
MUCH, guys!

January 20, 2015

In January, it doesn't get any better
than what we had today!  We had
Traci, Shawn, TJ, Chip, Chubby, and
Mark aboard today.  The weather was
gorgeous throughout the trip and as
calm as it was in the morning, I don't
really think the North Atlantic can get
any calmer than it was this afternoon
at any time of year - yet alone
January.  As for the fish - we boxed 17
tog today and 5 of them were OVER
12 POUNDS with 2 being 15lbs plus!  It
was one of those days where the
biggest fish on the structure wanted to
bite.  Three personal bests were had
today for Mark, Chip, and Traci had
two personal bests catching a 12
pound fish and then beating it with a
14.  What a day and we hope to get
out there again soon.  While it is nice
to "limit out," this time of year in the
area we are fishing the goal is more a
quest for personal bests as there are
some really beautiful fish on several
spots if you fish hard and are lucky
enough to be able to get him above
the structure before he wins the
battle!  Awesome day!

January 18, 2015

We've had some tough weather over
the last week for fishing.  However,
yesterday we had the opportunity to
participate in the National Seminar
Series hosted by Saltwater Sportsman
at the Linwood Country Club.  It was a
fun day of talking about fishing and
meeting some great new people!
Coming next month, we will be hosting
our second annual South Jersey
Fishing Seminar circuit and kicking it
off at Island Marine Center in Ocean
View.  Please check out the web site at
www.sjfishingseminars.com!  Thank
you!

Today, we had an open boat group
aboard the Bomb with Dave, Sean,
Tommy, Tommy, Tom, and Jeff.  Fishin
was excellent.  We fished two spots
and had excellent fishing on both with
lots of big tog.  We had a number of
fish over 10lbs with our biggest being a
beautiful male for Tom at nearly 14
pounds.  We easily limited out with
beautiful fish today.  Thanks guys!

We've had a few togging trips where
we could get out over the last few days.

January 2 through January 6

On January 2, Ron, Tom, Ron, Paul,
and Rich were aboard. We had a
steady bite throughout the trip on
several pieces that we fished with the
Barn's own Spooled(Tom) high hook
with at least 8 keepers on his new
Jigging World Black Demon rod. Ron
Rondeau was a close second and the
other guys contributed, as well. We
ended up with a limit of tog to 7
pounds and made our way for Harbor
View through some hard northwest
wind and pretty sloppy seas.

On January 3rd, Greg, Shawn, Traci,
Pat, Bob, and TJ were aboard. We
cleared the inlet and the wind hadn't
quite built to the 15 knots plus that
they were calling for. So, we started
fishing a different area to see how they
were chewing. While we did get some
nice fish, the bite wasn't quite what we
had hoped so we made a wiggle to
where we had been doing well the last
couple trips. We got a few more fish
here but overall it was a slow day but
the keepers we did get for the guys
were of nice quality 4 to 8 pounders.

Today, January 6, we fished with Ron,
Lenny and his friend, Brian, Mark, and
Skip M. We fished a few drops today
and while a couple were slow, we had
a really good bite on a third and the
guys boxed their limit of fish to 7
pounds with the Barn's own Ancient
Mariner Skip M. high hook with 7 or 8
keepers and the rest of the guys
getting in on the action, as well. The
snow made for an interesting weather
trip as it was laying quite a bit as
Mother Nature provided all the ice we
need.

Thanks to everyone who sailed with us
over the last few days. Hope to see
you aboard the Bomb soon!

December 29

Today(Monday, 12/29), we were out
with the open boat togging crew of
Rich, Mike, Bill, Kevin, Ken, and Stan.
We fished three drops today in harder
than forecasted northeast winds and
had good life on all three with a limit of
tog going in the box. Big fish for the
day went to Rich Jones and tipped the
scales to 10 pounds and we had
several other 6 to 8 pound fish among
mostly 15" to 18" keepers. It was a
very good day and the gang made the
best of the lackluster conditions. Great
work, guys!

December 27

Saturday, we shoved off with Greg,
Shawn, Traci, Rob, Jeff, and Tom.
Togging was very good with a nice,
steady bite throughout the trip. We hit
four drops today. Three of them had
good life with a steady pull of fish to 8
pounds coming over the rail. One of
the four was slow, but we did pull a
couple of nice fish out of it and broke
off a really nice fish in the snaggiest
part of the structure. Our largest fish of
the day was a nice 9 to 10 pound fish
that Rob attempted to swing but the
line broke. He lives to fight another
day. End of day tally was a boat limit of
tog to 8 pounds and several keepers
released to fight another day. Thanks
guys!

December 22

We were able to get out in front of the
rain and wind coming in with the
Christmas Eve storm.  Aboard were
Joe, Joe, Mel, Mike, Clyde, and Bob.
We went togging today, and the fish bit
well for us!  We fished three drops.
Our first was slow with a scratch bite
and only a few shorts.  Drop number
two was much better with some nice
fish making the box along with
numerous shorts and good life.  Drop
number three was the kicker.  Excellent
fishing with lots of life and nice fish in
the mix with the remainder of our limit
hitting the box to 7 pounds.  We got in
before it got too nasty, as well.
Awesome day, guys!

December 21

Another day on the offshore sea bass
grounds today!  With Greg, Shawn,
Traci, Jeff, Chuck, and Timmy aboard,
we shoved off in the dark enroute to
where we had them yesterday.  Fishing
was slow early, but moving around a
bit really helped as we found some
nice pockets of fish at times and
finished with a limit of sea bass to 5
pounds hitting the box and the
average size to the fish being quite
nice.  Once again, on the way home,
we ran over blue planet style bird life
and made one drift and jigged a whole
bunch of stripers from schoolies to 25
pounders.  GREAT day!

December 20

What a day today!  Aboard with us for
an offshore sea bass run were Bruce,
Greg, Nick, Lisa, Jim, and Sam.
Fishing was excellent.  We had good
sea bass jigging with a limit of sea
bass to 6 plus pounds going in the
box.  On the way home, we ran across
a nice bird play and had a big bonus
jigging stripers to 30 pounds before
heading to Harbor View!  What a day!
Thanks everyone!

December 17

Another good day of striper fishing with
Denny, Brian, Stan, Ken, Bruce, and
Greg.  We started out jigging some
small schoolie sized bass with a small
keeper mixed in here and there.  After
a move, we got on a good jig bite on
much bigger fish and had a ball jigging
fish to 30 pounds!  What a day!

December 16

Ross Hartley and company were
aboard today.  The guys decided they
wanted to target tog, so we shoved off
just after day break.  The bite wasn't
red hot, but we had a slow pick of fish
throughout the day and made multiple
moves to try and find a good chew.
We boxed 18 fish to 8.5 pounds, had
many shorts, and plenty of swings and
misses to make you appreciate the art
of togging!  Thanks guys!

December 15

EJ Pellechia, Chris, Chris, and Tom
were aboard today.  Taking advantage
of the favorable forecast, the guys
decided to run offshore to look for big
sea bass.  We found them good and
put a beautiful limit in the box with fish
to 6 pounds on both bait and jigs.
Great day!

December 14

Greg, Shawn, Traci, Jeff, Bruce, and
Terry were aboard today after a week
of rough weather!  We had to change
zip codes a bit, but striper fishing was
fantastic and we were able to get them
jigging which was very nice!  Lots of
nice fish came over the rail and a great
day was had by all!

December 6

Shawn, Traci, Joe, Tom, Terry, and
Tom were aboard The Bomb today for
an open boat striper trip.  The fish
played hard to get during the early
morning stage of the trip, but as the
tide got rolling the bite took off and
finished up late morning with an
absolutely smoking bite on the troll that
produced a fast limit of fish to 30
pounds and a bunch of fish released,
too.  Today was a case in point of
patience pays as they didn't want to
bite good for a while, but the guys
waited them out and were rewarded
with excellent fishing.  Nice work!  The
next few days look like Mother Nature
will have her way with us.  We will see
what happens with these fish when we
get back out.  It will probably be a
search and destroy mission to find
them as the weather will likely move
them around a bit.  Looking forward to
getting back out there!
