1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

Couple first for the Canyon Runner team this year - Capt. Phil caught a tuna out of NJ before he caught his first striper 3 weeks ago and yesterday we got our third canyon trip of the year in and it's still May – never did more than 2 prior to this! Unreal to have this nice of water and this type of fishing so early and so consistent. Looks like a true great start to the year – hopefully it holds up – for another 5 months!
Both boats were out Saturday with the 48 Viking doing an overnighter Friday to Saturday and they put a nice beating on some fish with the Leigh Hunsberger charter. Capt. Deane Lambros with Capt. Kevin Muller and Capt. Evan Milas stopped inshore on the way out and immediately put a bluefin in the boat then headed offshore to that water up this way. They got bites almost immediately and finished up with 4 yellowfin on the afternoon troll and a bunch of other bites. The night bite was successful with a nice mako hitting the deck before midnight.
The morning troll was the best of it all though. By 630am they had over a dozen bites and by 9am over 20. Fishing up with a nice catch for the group whoÂ’s looking to come back with us this August.
With that many bites everything was working but it seemed like spreader bars were the best in the afternoon bite and plugs were the key in the morning.
Simrad Sounder was working it's magic once again - check out pic below.
With charters booked every day now to the canyon I’m hoping to have a lot more reports and pictures but the forecast doesn’t look too promising this week early on – fingers crossed.
