Fishing for jumbo sea bass along with porgies and come cod and pollock on far offshore wrecks remains the best bet for anglers -- especially since the inshore bluefish and striper run cooled off. Capt. Howard Bogan reported Sunday's fishing on his Jamaica from Brielle remained very good with many limits of sea bass up to 6 pounds plus porgies, bluefish and a 10-pound pollock. There may be a spot or two left on tonight's trip, plus many more on trips after Christmas -- and before the sea bass season closes at the end of the year. Call 732 528-5014 for reservations. Capt. Rob Semkewyc took a ride along the northern Shore without seeing any signs of working birds, and also talked to blackfish skippers who saw no signs of blues and stripers -- or even dolphins. As a result, he won't be running his Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands until there's better news. There was no better news from Seaside Park, as few anglers seem to be making the effort in the surf despite mild temperatures. There have been no weigh-ins in several days at Grumpy's Tackle. Betty & Nick's noted that Monday's wind created a blowout tide that didn't help.
