After two brutal winters that shut surf fishing down early, we were hoping for better during a mild winter that is keeping water temperatures in the 50s. Yet, that doesn't seem to be the case so far. Jay Amberg reports from Sea Girt that the waters are beautiful, but there's no sign of bait or stripers in the surf. There also hasn't been any encouraging news from the Seaside Park tackle shops -- though relatively few anglers have been fishing. Grumpy's hasn't had a weigh-in for some time. All this could still change, so don't give up just yet.
