1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

Not surprisingly, there were no surf or boat reports from this morning as a hard northwest wind combined with temperatures around 10 degrees to keep even the most dedicated at home. It warmed up by afternoon, but when I checked Point Peasant there was only one angler who cast very briefly and reported the surf was "Way too rough". The forecast is for much better weather the next few days, and lighter west winds should at least calm the ocean a bit. Whether the stripers and blues will remain in steadily cooling waters is another question. The Elaine B. II will be sailing for blackfish from Bahrs in Highlands on Wednesday. The Jamaica from Brielle has space available on Saturday's 4 a.m. limited cod trip. The fare is $100, and reservations must be made at 732 528-5014. That trip will be run every Saturday through March. Capt. Charlie Fornabio, formerly of Belmar, has been enjoying a warm winter at Sebastian, Florida so far and reports as follows: "Fishing this past week has continued to be good for us. Lots of species being caught with sheepshead and snook being the most prevalent on any given day. We are still catching a few redfish around the mangroves and docks with a few snappers in the mix. John Marwell landed a 7-lb trout this past Sunday. Black drum are moving into the river and that bite should only get better. Croakers are scattered around the area with some nice sized ones being caught in the deeper holes. Jacks, ladyfish and blue runners are moving into the inlet on incoming tides. Some Spanish mackerel are being caught as well around the inlet. Pompano are scattered and we have not found any quantities to speak of so far. Hope springs eternal. It's going to be a great January ahead!Happy New Year! Capt. Charlie Fornabio772 360 7647
