Sunday was another beautiful day for ocean fishing, but there was no change in the mackerel situation as the Golden Eagle from Belmar jigged loads of herring with only scattered mackerel among them. Check with them about future trips after the weather improves again.
The Big Mohawk from Belmar fished offshore for blackfish on Saturday. They reported a pick of tog with some limits. Those fish averaged 2 to 4 pounds, with a pool winner around 7 1/2 pounds. There won't be any fishing on Monday, when northeast winds are expected to create rough seas. I'll post again when there's some news.
