Capt. Scott Hilliard made his first striper trip of the season today with Prowler V from Atlantic Highlands. His report is as follows: "We covered a lot of ground, from Cliffwood Beach to the flats to Keansburg to Port Monmouth. Made many drops. Just was nothing to catch. Hats off to the crew today, Kenny and Ritchie for making sure we had fresh clams for today's trip and using extra bait working hard to try and catch some fish. If there were some fish to be caught today I would have shaped up during the week - but that being said - we're going to wait until Saturday, April 2nd before we sail again. Our water temperature was inoperative today. Although, we had a little boat, tell one of my deckhands, Capt. Kenny on the phone that the temperature was 51 degrees." Capt. Joe Massa gave stripers a brief try Friday afternoon with his My Three Sons from Morgan Marina. As expected, there were plenty of bunkers in Raritan Bay, and gannets were diving. Massa said he finally saw some fish marks among the bunkers, but he couldn't get a bite on that bait. After that beautiful weather yesterday, it was cool today in the northeast wind. More of that is forecast for Easter Sunday. There were no offshore boat reports by late afternoon.  The Jamaica from Brielle has openings on a special trip to 50-to-90-mile wrecks for cod on Friday April 1 at 10 p.m. to fish that Saturday.
