Today's gale-force northwest winds are predicted to die out to 5-to-10-mph north by Wednesday morning, which should make it possible for party boats to sail. Both the Golden Eagle (mackerel) and Ocean Explorer (cod)are planning to depart in the morning. After all that NW win, seas should be calm. The wind is predicted to switch to east at 10-to-15-mph before gusting to 20 mph Wednesday-- and then dropping to 5-to-10-mph south by early afternoon. The south wind is supposed to blow 15-to-20 mph Thursday, and 20-to-25 mph Friday before dropping down to west at 10-to-15 for Saturday. John Bushell Jr. posted a video at Betty & Nick's Tackle in Seaside Park that showed a blowout tide with that northwest gale at Island Beach State Park. That's a good time to check the beach for pockets to fish later in the year. Bushell said he was told by a reliable source that school stripers are hitting small shads and other small lures in the surf.
