BLOG4 Blackfishing turned on Sunday for anglers fishing aboard the Ocean Explorer and Big Mohawk out of Belmar Marina. Both boats reported steady action that resulted in a few limit catches for those with the touch. Bob Matthews, at Fisherman's Den in that marina, reported that Rock Bottom Charters limited out and released others. Beatriz Soto caught seven up to 7 1/2 pounds, but wasn't close to the 10-pound pool winner. Matthews noted that Marty Westerfeld of Wall caught three legal tog in Shark River Inlet, and saw others hooked there. He also mentioned the good striped bass fishing in Raritan Bay, but emphasized that angers should take it easy on them as they're breeders.
