Sorry for the delay. My blog was finished, but disappeared before I could publish. A summery follows: Capt. Stan Zagleski was pleased with his first day of fluking on Elaine B. II from Bahrs in Highlands. He left early (at 6 a.m.), and will do so again on Sunday before resuming regular hours on Monday. Dave Brink of Middletown was high hook with four keepers, and Jim Florio from Newark had a 4-pound pool winner. Both the Raritan Bay and Shore bluefish fleets had another great day of jigging and baiting big choppers. The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant also had a 41-pound striper on Friday, and several large bass during Thursday's magic hours live-lining trip. Capt. Bob Egger trolled bass of 35 and 32 pounds south of Manasquan Inlet on his Spunky II for Mark Faller of Toms River and Capt. Al Kape of Westfield this morning. Though Shark River was loaded with fluke before today, an angler I talked to said he only saw a few caught this morning from the bulkheads. Joe Melillo reports from Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant that small blues were picked at in the river and canal early in the morning. At Seaside Park, the tackle shops report a continuation of big blues in the surf on bait plus shots of action on lures. More stripers are mixing in. The sea bass season opens on Monday. The Jamaica from Brielle has set a Tuesday Sea Bass Marathon from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations for the $77 trip can be made by calling 732 528-5014. The Tackle Box in Hazlet weighed a 20-pound bluefish caught on a bunker chunk at Sandy Hook by Jeffrey Reynolds of Teanexk.
