After enduring lots of strong winds, anglers can expect very light east winds on Monday. Unfortunately, the Ocean Explorer from Belmar has scheduled some work on the boat -- and south winds are supposed to start blowing Tuesday. Capt. Charlie Fornabio, formerly of Belmar, sent the following report from Wabasso, Florida: "February ended on a windy note after mostly great weather for the month. The wind shut down the inlet snook fishing, but earlier in the week we had a solid day landing 4 oversized snook and the following day landing a few more beauties and a bonus cubera snapper. Redfish were scarce for me last week, but we did mange a few nice trout and small snook around the spoil islands. The sheepshead bite is still solid along the channel edges which kept us busy during the windy days. Water temps are still solidly over 70 degrees. Pompano fishing is still spotty. Seems like the pompano are staging more in the surf this year than in the river. I try to keep these reports short and honest. I hope you enjoy them.
