Captain's Focus

Though Monday's weather was mild and calm, the offshore fishing didn't respond for the Big Mohawk from Belmar even though they did have some keeper blackfish. Tuesday's weather doesn't look good, so they'll be staying in tomorrow and getting ready for Wednesday. Betty & Nick's in Seaside Park reported fine conditions early in the morning, but no one was around to take advantage of them. Mark Roy of Warren had a charter out of Miami last Thursday with Capt. Jon Cooper on Dive-Version with the aim of getting his girl friend, Yaping Jiang from Flushing Queens, into her first sailfish. That didn't quite work out during a rough day, but they did have two shots at sails while she enjoyed fighting three dolphin and two blackfin tuna that were a lot better eating.
