Captain's Focus

The only good party boat report today came from the Queen Mary with fine bluefishing out of Point Pleasant as follows" "Started fast this morning! Less than 10 minutes from the dock Jim Stieves first cast of the 2017 season was a HOOKUP! We held his one all morning until the tide slowed up.  Weather looks tough after tomorrow, so come on down while the fishing is HOT.  Thursday will be very nice day but then weather turns for the worse Friday" Capt. Ron Santee of the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands said he had the worst possible conditions on Raritan Bay with a west wind against an incoming tide -- but his anglers still managed to boat a pool winner. Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park reported bluefishing has been good with the west winds. Blues in Barnegat Bay are hitting both bunkers and poppers, while those in the surf are on bunker chunks. Metal and bucktails work best in Barnegat Inlet. There were 12 weigh-ins from Tuesday ranging from 6.6 pounds up to a 37-inch , 13.1-pounder by Evan  Walizer on bunker. Betty & Nicks reported a 20-pound bass was caught Monday on bunker, while Paul Gresko caught a 26-inch bass plus nine blues up to 13 pounds on bunker today.
