The Jamaica from Brielle did well on its first Sunday night long range tilefish trip, with a catch of 15-to 33-pound golden tiles. A much bigger fish (possibly a tuna) was lost on a lobster pot after being hooked on an electric reel which prevented the mobility required for fighting it. The pool went to Jimmy Kolnias of Hopelawn with a 34-pound tile. The Jamaica is running those trips by reservation at 10 p.m. Sunday nights. Call 732 528-5014. The Golden Eagle from Belmar reported bluefish jigging catches of 2-to-6-pound choppers that ranged from a few up to limits. Capt. Ran Santee had his father, Capt. Ron Sr.,  aboard the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands as he boated three keepers to tie for high hook. The pool winner on a picky day was a 6.9-pound fluke. The Monday night stiper trip was highlighted by a 38-pound bass, but there were otherwise only a few shorts and blues hitting jigs and eels. Capt. Stan Zagleski was happy with another beautiful day as his fares on Elaine B. II from Bahrs in Highlands picked at fluke -- though Ken McGill was very happy with his 8-pounder. Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park reports surf fluking with Gulp has been better than expected, but warned about the arrival of cownose rays.  Bill Klimas of Scotch Plains sent the following note about his sea bass fishing: Doug Rush (Shimano Rep), fishing on his Fin Fun from Brielle had a fabulous day on Sunday with his family. Fishing with his sister and brother-in-law Valerie and Bill Klimas along with nephew Brian Klimas they caught over 100 sea bass up to 3 lbs. in 2.5 hours using Shimano Lucanus Jigs in 70 feet. Valerie thought she had a real record fish only to find she had two sea bass on one Lucanus Jig, one on each assist hook.The fish were filled with an assortment of crabs, small lobsters, and sand eels.  Many of the sea bass were suspended and could be read in thick clouds 20' off the bottom.
