Porgie action is still good
Monday, September 4, 2017
The past week we've had some good Porgie fishing, with only a few slow days. Most days we have been catching 20-50 fish a person with a few Fluke and Triggerfish in the mix. Today's action was okay with the Porgies, but we had a PHENOMENAL time catching and THROWING back, keeper sized Seabass. As most of you know, our Seabass season closed last week because the government tells us we had to have a closure even though our Seabass population is 150% over its biomass. This means the fisherman are being penalized and have to throw back dinner-sized Seabass and in turn we are losing our business. Our state, which says they are on our side, has not supported the fishermen of New Jersey. There is a meeting in the Staford Township Municipal building (260 E. Bay Ave Manahawkin, NJ) Thursday, September 7th at 4 pm. The public is invited. We need all the help we can get to tell our state they are not on our side and that more than just fishing businesses are being affected. We all thank you for your support.
