Captain's Focus

Unless the weather forecast is way off, it appears that fishing opportunities will be hard to come by Tuesday. The south wind is already increasing as this is being written, and there's a lot more to come. That's too bad, because the Golden Eagle from Belmar had a very good day with monster blues today. The pool winner was 23 pounds, and they also had big sea bass and some little tunny. That boat has announced they will not be sailing Tuesday -- and I doubt that any other boat will try to do so. Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant was proud to watch Maren Toleno of Mantoloking catch a 34-inch striper at Normandy Beach this morning. Lasko managed to land a little tunny. There wasn't such good surf news from Vinnie D'Anton of Wall along with his friends, including Mike Monte from Nantucket,  fishing baches north of Shark River  as they were shut out. D'Anton released a 19-inch fluke in the surf last week.
