Captain's Focus

Today started like yesterday there was plenty of birds up close to home but the boat traffic killed it. So we headed to where we were yesterday. When we first got there it looked as good as yesterday but the bite didn't last. We kept heading east to different areas of fish we were catching some, but we could not get a keeper. If we were in jersey we would have had some bonus fish(stripers between 24 and 28 inches) but in NY you must throw them back. 27inches was the closest we came. I headed back close to home for the change of tide and as I hoped there were a couple areas of fish in jersey waters .We made three stops on them but couldn't manage one 24 inches or bigger, a couple 23 but nothing we could keep.To make a long story short the fishing was not near as good as yesterday. High hook was probably 25-30 and that was the average catch per man yesterday. You definitely had to work for them today, they weren't just jumping on the hook. It sounds like  some bigger fish are moving our way but they are not close enough yet.We will be fishing tomorrow Monday 12-4 But it looks like Tuesday and Wednesday we will be staying home and then be back at it on Thursday. I will keep you posted. See you soon, Capt. Rob
