Capt. Rob Semkewyc sent the following report about great striper jigging today on his Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands. SEA HUNTER 12-17 STRIPER REPORT!!!!!!! YOU NEVER KNOW
I really didn't know what to expect today. After my last trip last week which was a hack. Today I was very pleasantly surprised. We had our boat limit with keepers and slots today.Hopefully we can do it again tomorrow! The fish were feeding on herring and bunker so the shads worked best today.Monday and Tuesdays weather looks good so we will be fishing both those days for sure. See you soon. Time is running out get them while they are here. Thanks for checking in, Capt. Rob
Mike Kuzio and his son from steam fitters 420 Mike is on the right he had a hot hand today
The Gambler from Point Pleasant reported some shorts and slots plus a few keeper bass. The Gambler will be sailing for stripers the next few days.
Surf reports weren't as good. I missed a bass in the wash on my first cast at Sea Girt this morning, and released two small bass on the Tsunami Sand Eel shortly thereafter, but never had another hit and saw nothing else caught on the beach after the sun came up. A return in the evening was also poor, with just one light hit and nothing being caught.
Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant said Island Beach State Park was picky Friday, and it was no better this morning at Lavallette.
The Mimi VI will be sailing open for blackfish from Point Pleasant on the following days: Dec. 18-23 and 26 to31. Call 732 370-8019 for details and reservations.
