Capt. Deane Lambros has been catching lots of yellowfin tuna while running the Canyon Runner from Point Pleasant out of its winter berth in N.C. -- and he isn't even fishing for them. Giant bluefin tuna are the prime target, and he did lose a big one last week before boating a smaller giant later in the week. Boats down there that are fishing for yellowfins have literally been catching all they want. The big problem, as always, is the weather that results in many cancellations.
Adam La Rosa is scheduling trips in N.C., and also notes that only 35 tickets at $99 remain for Saturday's Canyon Runner Seminar in the Huntington Hilton at Melville, Long Island. Call him at 732 842-6825.
The Ocean Explorer from Belmar got out on Saturday, but found very cold waters just as on Friday -- and the same slow bite unlike the bottom activity found last Tuesday. They're planning to try it again on Wednesday.
