Captain's Focus

Another good bite on some beautiful Striped bass today!

Had fish all up on top for the first two drifts this morning. I love to watch the top water plugs as the fish just crash them!! Shads worked and the jigs & crocs did better after the fish settled down.

Big John fishing in the stern lead the way with 14 beautiful Bass. All fish so far this season have been very clean, healthy specimens. A good fat content in the meat when they are filleted shows me there is no lack of food for them and they have been eating good.

Anthony "Barka" Rullo from Hoboken, had several great release fish and took the pool with a very nice 25 pound Bass. A couple lulls here and there but all in all I'd call it an all day bite in a couple of area's.

Once again, I can't tell you enough about what you should have in your tackle box....Nine inch Shad White or Green, Couple jigs 47's, 67's and a jig with tail, TOP WATER PLUG if you have a good spinning set up and the fish are up, it's a must!!! A good snag if we fish in the Bunker, just a couple bottom rig set ups in case we fish with the bait.

I Can't believe how many guys who bass fish don't come prepared. Remember, Don't wait for the Report, Be the report!! If you wait for the perfect Sunny, no wind kind of day chances are the bite will be over and we will catch crap.

Back at it tomorrow......
